Giant Fossil Worm Shell

This large fossil Worm shell is from the Pliocene period, part of the Caloosahatchee Formation.   It was collected at the bottom of the Newburn APAC Pit, Sarasota, Fl.   It is now closed to the general public like most fossil shell pits in Florida.
This is not a true "Worm" shell.  It is a gastropod shell that shows its last coils only at the end.  You get the exact specimen shown in the photos above.  The
Vermicularia recta
SHELL is 18.8 cm long and 12.6 cm. wide.
