DESCRIPTION:
An Ethereal Angel of the True Gibson Girl Edwardian fashion period.
Antique cream chiffon, long trained & well ruched flowing wedding skirt.
She has three ruched bands alternating on the skirt.
These intact bands have 4 rows of ruching per band.
First starting just a few inches below the waistband to accentuate the hips of the S-Bend sihouette
so prominent at this wonderful time in fashion history. The following 2 bands alternate further
down the flowing yardage of this girl. Just below the last band, a full sweeping tulip ruffle cascades
outward in each direction leaving a flowy train to follow.
This ruffle is adorned with
many circular motifs encompassing the sweep circumference.
Finally to end in a well trimmed hemline of petite ruffled chiffon.
Closes at back centre band with 2 hooks & eyes.
Closures are intact but may be loose.
CONDITION & REMARKS:
Good, well preserved condition with caution & respect to age.
Skirt is well intact although some splits within the folds of the chiffon just under the waistband are present.
Please take care if wearing or displaying.
Silk underskirt was removed due to shredding & could no longer hold together.
Slight remnants
of the cream silk can still be seen around the interior of the waistband.
Original silk "hang support bands" still on the interior of the waistband.
Some small age stains/age marks.
Slightly stiff due to age.
Two slight tears or holes within the ruching near the hook & eye closures.
If I have missed something, it is because I could not see it. Chiffon skirt has many, many folds.
